Tips for trade show exhibitors
We all know how important trade shows are for exhibitors. From launching a new product to taking orders or getting new leads, trade shows are the most important dates in the calendar for so many businesses. But how do you know if you’re getting the most out of the trade show experience?
The following top 5 trade show tips and Spring Fair recommendations may just give you the edge on your competitors!
1. Have your best sales people on your stand at the peak times of the show!
This might sound obvious, but how are you supposed to know exactly when the peak times will be? Thanks to our statistics from Spring Fair 2015, we were able to find out that you can expect the busiest times of the show to be between 12pm-1pm and 2pm-3pm with a lull between 1pm-2pm each day.
2. Make the most out of the technology by your side
Whether it’s a smart phone or a tablet device, using technology at appropriate times is so important. Whether it’s using social media to promote your products, remind people of your stand number, and get involved in social discussions, or to take photos of your busy stand and check your business email, there are so many things you can be doing when you have a quiet period. If you’re attending Spring Fair, make sure to use the correct hashtag #SpringFair16, and make use of the free Wi-Fi at the NEC.
3. Take a walk
Make sure you have the opportunity to take a walk around the exhibition to get a feel for what your competitors are producing. Have they launched new products? How are they marketing themselves? Is their stand layout better than yours?
Not only can you analyse your competitors, but there will also be opportunities for you as a business. There will be stalls which aim to sell to exhibitors, so take a look at what’s on offer!
4. Go to the seminars
At most exhibitions there is a full list of seminars which are happening throughout the duration of the show, there’ll be at least one which will be of use to you. From best use of blogs and social media, to selling techniques and industry insight. It’s not very often you get the opportunity to attend so many free talks, so take advantage!
5. Make it enjoyable for your sales team
Trade shows can be nightmarishly busy and at the end of day 1 your reps might be questioning why they agreed to go in the first place. Stay positive and give constructive feedback to your team – especially if it’s their first show. If you can, make it fun – create a friendly competition to see who gets the most leads/orders and give the winner a prize at the end.
