Six months ago our Cloud Event was just an idea around a meeting table, since then we have been gathering resources and preparing and yesterday we saw all our hard work pay off! As this was our first ever event of this kind we weren’t too sure what to expect and whether or not it would be a flop! Nevertheless, after weeks of campaigning and practicing demonstrations we are really pleased with how the event went. Our attendees arrived bright and early at 9am and we were able to chat to everyone beforehand in the pre-event networking session and get a feel for the kinds of businesses they represented and what they wanted to take away from the morning.
The talk itself ran fairly smoothly with only one or two very small technical glitches! Our two Cloud experts, Tim Foulkes and Clayton Montgomery, engaged well with the audience and as it was a fairly small and intimate affair people were able to get involved in the conversation and get answers to the questions they really wanted to ask. A popular topic that seemed high on many people’s agenda was data security and protection issues. We had a couple of questions regarding how to ensure employees save their document in the right place, for example on a backed-up, shared drive rather than on the user’s own desktop. As this is such priority for many businesses we will post a dedicated article about data and documents governance and best practices – watch this space!
As Cloud has been around for a while we wanted to focus on trends and technologies that were new or had high adoption rates. With this in mind our three topics included:
- The Power of Mobility – Lync and Mobile Device Management
- Free Your Workspace – OneDrive and SharePoint
- X As A Service – Microsoft Azure
We found that people knew a little bit about a couple of these areas but we were able to share with them new applications and capabilities with real business benefits. If you think this sounds like something that you could benefit from we will be running online webinars for Cloud Computing, Office 365 and other useful areas of business technology.
