Don't keep your patients waiting
This summer former Health Secretary John Reid set NHS targets to reduce patient waiting times to a maximum of 18 weeks by 2008.
This represents a significant challenge to hospitals around the country which will need to ensure they are running as efficiently as possible to meet the new target.
Trisoft believes its theatre management system - TheatreMan - which is currently operational in more than 55 hospitals, can help achieve this target and deliver many more operational benefits.
TheatreMan enables the scheduling of patients to theatre lists for procedures to be undertaken many weeks in advance using a simple and effective booking diary. This diary is available both through an integral Advanced Scheduling Module and via an internet browser client.
Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been using TheatreMan for more than three years.
Adrian Stone, General Manager Surgery, said: "The government has set a target that hospitals must achieve a maximum patient waiting time of 18 weeks from GP referral to first course of treatment, by January 2008. Work is currently underway to ensure the Trust is able to meet this target.
"The TheatreMan system is well established within our hospitals and helps our staff to schedule surgical lists effectively. The smooth running of our theatres will of course be a key component in achieving the 18 week target and we look forward to continuing to use the software."
